Nopal Cactus Juice
Nopal Cactus November 2nd, 2012The Nopal cactus (also known as prickly pear cactus) is usually found in Mexico and it has interesting historical backgrounds. If you think that it fruit was only used in the last couple of decades you are wrong. The ancient civilizations living on Mexico’s territory have already realized that they can use the Nopal cactus fruit for various healing purposes.
People around Mexico also say that the Nopal fruit was a noble food, consumed by warriors and elite members of the ancient tribes and civilizations. Even nowadays they think of it as a noble, special fruit to eat.
As a natural habitat for the Prickly pear cactus, Mexico is the perfect place for it to grow. This is because the soil contains all of the necessary minerals and nutrients needed for optimal growth. What are the ways to eat the Nopal cactus fruit?
Trivita Nopalea
Obviously, if you’ve heard of TriVita then you probably know they produce the Nopal cactus juice. Other than their juice, the cactus fruit itself can be prepared in various recipes or eaten as it is, without any additional preparations and ingredients.
The good thing about consuming the Nopal fruit is that you’d have your own Nopal cactus juice without paying those amounts of money. The effects are almost the same. The Nopal fruit is one of the best anti-oxidants available. It will improve your heart health and prevent heart attacks and strokes as well. Since it’s a well-known detoxifier, Nopal cactus fruit will clean up the mess inside blood vessels so that you won’t produce any blood clots. Without blood clots the risks of a heart attack or stroke are significantly diminished.
However, that’s not everything about the blood! Did you ever hear or read about the bad cholesterol? Nopal will easily reduce the bad cholesterol level so that you can feel good and have a healthy cardiovascular system.
In Mexico, Nopal cactus production is one of the mainstream industries. As people have farms for everything they produce and sell, Mexicans have their own Nopal farms. Of course, the Nopal fruit is useless unless it’s fresh. This means that if you go to any supermarket where you’ll find Nopal cactus fruit you need to observe how long it was held there. If it looks funny or if it’s discolored – don’t consume that!
Besides the obvious or well-known usages of the cactus fruit mentioned above there are other not so common but very effective usages as well. For instance, certain cosmetics contain Nopal cactus fruit. I don’t want to add further information since the market and offers are changing – check at the local stores or online!
Since the Nopal fruit contains all known Betalains and it has powerful anti-inflammatory and powerful detoxifying effects, you will also be able to reduce inflammations and detoxify your body to prevent fatal diseases such as cancer.
